What You Will Be Doing As Sales Manager

  • Order Processing: You would be responsible for processing customer orders, verifying order accuracy, and ensuring alignment with pricing, terms, and conditions. This involves coordinating with sales teams, customers, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
  • Invoicing: Generating and issuing accurate and timely invoices to customers based on the agreed-upon terms and conditions is an essential part of the AR process. You would ensure that invoices are prepared correctly, including relevant details such as itemized charges, taxes, discounts, and payment instructions.
  • Payment Processing: Managing the receipt and processing of customer payments is a critical aspect of AR. This includes reconciling incoming payments with outstanding invoices, posting payments to customer accounts, and resolving any discrepancies or variances.
  • Collections: Monitoring and managing overdue customer accounts is another key responsibility. You would proactively follow up with customers on outstanding invoices, send payment reminders, and engage in collection activities to ensure timely payment. This may involve communication through various channels, such as phone calls, emails, or letters.

Skills Required for the job

  • Financial Knowledge: A solid understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and the Order to Cash cycle is crucial. You should be familiar with concepts such as invoicing, payment collection, credit management, and financial reconciliation.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential in AR to ensure accuracy in order processing, invoicing, and payment application. This includes verifying invoice details, reconciling payments, and identifying discrepancies or errors.
  • Numerical Proficiency: Strong numerical skills are necessary for performing calculations, reconciling accounts, and analyzing financial data. You should be comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and financial software.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are important for interacting with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders. You should be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and tactfully when addressing customer inquiries, resolving disputes, or explaining payment terms.
  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service is essential in AR, as you will be dealing directly with customers and handling their financial inquiries. You should have a customer-centric mindset, be empathetic, and possess strong problem-solving skills to address customer concerns effectively.
