Key Responsibilities of a Radiology coders
- Read radiology reports, imaging documents and physician notes to coding with the relevant CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPS codes.
- Radiologic Code Diagnostic procedures such as X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology.
- Use the appropriate modifiers in accordance with the documentation and billing requirements.
- Coding: Be sure that the professional (Profee) and/or facility components are coded properly based on the scope.
- Check radiology reports to ensure that they are complete and coded correctly.
- Locate the incomplete or ambiguous documentation and seek questions to the providers or supervisors as necessary.
- Make sure that the procedures billed are medically necessary.
- Achieve pre-established criteria of coding productivity and accuracy.
- Engage in in-house auditing of code and quality enhancement measures.
- Achieve a code accuracy of greater than 98 percent quality standards.
- Audit coding-based reimbursals and help in amendments or resubmission.
- Determine trends and prescribe remedial measures aimed at minimising denials.
