The Telangana State Police have issued a plea to residents, urging them to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel unless it is an emergency situation.

In a Twitter post, the police department emphasized the importance of citizens remaining within the confines of their homes during this period of inclement weather. The message specifically addressed IT employees, advising them to work from the safety of their homes. Additionally, emergency workers were encouraged to assess the rain conditions and, when necessary, transition from the office to their homes.

This alert serves as both a precautionary measure and a response to the ongoing torrential downpour, which has disrupted daily life in Hyderabad. The city’s residents are grappling with a slew of challenges, including waterlogging and severe traffic congestion.

The relentless rains, which began on Monday night and intensified during the early hours of the following day, have inundated various parts of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. As a result, many roads have become submerged, rendering them impassable for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) issued its own alert, advising people to remain indoors unless their presence outside is absolutely necessary.

Regions particularly affected by the heavy rainfall include the Old City, central Hyderabad, Secunderabad, the bustling information technology hub of Hitec City, Gachibowli, and the city’s outskirts. These areas have borne the brunt of the extensive rain, further underscoring the need for residents to exercise caution and prioritize their safety during this challenging weather event.
