Created by OpenAI, this program selects students who will then act as Campus leads to bring AI tools like ChatGPT and Codex to other students via workshops, hands-on projects, studio hours and campus showcases for an entire year. This is not an internship, in that it mixes leadership and educational training around AI with community service, rather than simply focusing on software development. The program duration is August 2026 to June 2027, and applications are open until August 10, 2026.

OpenAI ChatGPT Student Collective – Responsibilities
- Conduct AI workshops and learning sessions at your campus.
- Hold periodic Studio Hours for students to brainstorm on AI work.
- Familiarize your classmates with ChatGPT, Codex and other OpenAI tools
- We plan and manage events, hackathons, AI showcases on campus.
- AI exploration should attract an academic mixture of students.
- Spread information about learning resources, best practices and updates on AI amongst your community.
- Work with fellow Student Collective Campus Leads internationally.
- Collaborating with the OpenAI team, into training.
- Solicit feedback from learners and assist in enhancing the AI learning experience on campus.
- You will act as an ambassador for OpenAI and making sure AI is used responsibly and ethically.
- Spend 4-6 hours per week engaging in program activities during the academic year.
OpenAI ChatGPT Student Collective – Eligibility
To apply for the OpenAI ChatGPT Student Collective 2026–2027, candidates must meet the following Eligibility :
- Must be 18 years of age or above.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate college or university.
- Expected graduation date of after December 2027
- Availability to commit 4–6 hours each week over the course of the program (August ’26 – June ‘27).
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI), ChatGPT, leadership and community-building is a plus.
- Students from any study area including but not limited to Engineering, Computer Science, Business and Commerce (BBA/MBA), Arts, Science, Design and Law.
- No previous experience on AI tools or any code is required.
- Well-developed communication, team-working and event planning skills
- Show some passion about helping fellow students learn and use AI technologies.
- Must live in one of the supported nations like India, USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany Japanese and South Korean.
