Roles and Responsibilities for Staff Nurses
- Conduct detailed nursing assessments including the patient’s clinical status, pain, cleaning and allergies and safety of the entire condition of patients.
- Formulates nursing care plans each shift based on patient needs, safety, dietary status and assessment of conditions.
- Prioritizes Nursing needs according to Nursing Assessment upon admission, identified problems and the anticipated length of stay.
- Adhere to admission guidelines, records keeping, and notify patient and family.
- Used effective communication in providing information promptly.
- Works in knowledge of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank) and GST (Greet, smile and thank).
- Provide holistic nursing care of critically ill patients which includes assessment, medication administration, monitoring, documentation, & consultation.
- Work with the physician and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to develop a plan of care for each assigned patient.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to the change in patient condition by practice a “what now” philosophy of care for optimal communication and intervention.
- Demonstrate proficiency with complex clinical skills: mechanical ventilation management, hemodynamic monitoring, CRRT.
