Key Responsibilities:
- Look at insurance claim denials to determine the causes (coding mistakes, lack of documentation, rules set by payer).
- Ensures that medical record documentation is applied to the appropriate ICD10, CPT and HCPCS codes.
- Ensure documentation supports medical necessity.
- Track resubmission status until resolution.
- Correct and resubmit as appropriate for payment.
- Identify recurring denial patterns.
- Recommendation of potential preventative measures to minimize future denials.
- Collaborate with the doctors, coders and billing personnel to clear out conflicts.
- Compliance with payer policies, CMS regulations, HIPAA laws.
- Report denial reasons and ways to avoid them to clinician or admin team.
- Keep in sync with coding standards.
- Keep a denial log of cases and resolutions.
- Reports on denial rates, reasons, and recovery amounts.
- Recommend process enhancements with the objective of reducing rejections of claims.
