Roles and Responsibilities for Blood Bank Technician
- Donor Blood Collection:Identify and screen potential donors, perform venipuncture and collect the uncertain blood units in a safe manner.
- Blood Typing and Cross-matching: Test the blood for matching between donor and recipientTake vital signs on patient (temperature, heart rate, and locationheight and weight)Perform common screening tests (HIV hepatitis B & C)
- Component Preparation: Whole blood will be processed by centrifuges to separate components such as red blood cells, plasma and platelets.
- Inventory Management: Keep an eye on stock, expiration dates and maintaining a closed environment for temperature-controlled products.
